KELSEY VANDER VLIET RANYARD

I am a justice-oriented public policy professional with a background in various policy areas like adoption reform, maternal health, and elder health and aging. My expertise encompasses writing, speaking, stakeholder relations, government relations, and grassroots organizing, enabling me to achieve effective policy changes and progressive shifts in professional practices. I am a passionate, data-driven, and detail-oriented team player skilled in communicating complex concepts effectively to diverse audiences, including legislators, public administrators, stakeholders, media, and the general public.

I am a Midwesterner with a Rust Belt edge who thrives best in the California sun. Hailing from Northern Indiana, I now reside in San Diego with a stubborn Englishman and our strong-willed daughter. I’m a mother, writer, and musician with a zeal for justice. I love baking, live music, and seeing the underdog become victorious.

“Not at once; but woman is the mothering element in the world and her vote will go toward helping forward the time when life's Bread, which is home, shelter and security, and the Roses of life, music, education, nature and books, shall be the heritage of every child that is born in the country, in the government of which she has a voice.”
